Rumah Angkat is a transitional housing service that aims to provide temporary housing, case management, and psychosocial support for LGBTIQ persons in Malaysia who are escaping violence, discrimination, and homelessness.
We are a transitional home for LGBTIQ people who are in need of a safer space to escape violent and discriminatory environments.
We strive to provide holistic care to our residents — not just shelter — but also psychosocial support and case management to improve residents’ situations.
We aim to build a network of LGBTI and queer-affirming service providers in Malaysia to provide services to more people in need.
We decided to create a safe home where LGBTIQ people can have a safe environment while rebuilding their lives. We currently operate one transitional home in Petaling Jaya, Selangor. Running a safe home is costly. However, together we can make sure each person that comes in can receive adequate bedding, food, and care. Find out below how to support us.
